Web Accessibility Consultancy

Web accessibility can mean different things to different people and there has been a lot of ambiguity about the web accessibility guidelines and how to implement it best in different scenarios.

After consulting widely around the world between the users and the developers the W3C and WAI have issued guidelines to achieve web accessibility and maintain it.

The U.K government has taken steps in this direction and ERC (previously DRC) has published the PAS78 produced by British Standards Institute.

Can I be sued for a non accessible website?

In theory, Yes. Before these guidelines were introduced and the PAS78 was published, the relevant parties (Website Commissioner, Website Developers and Website Users) used to move the blame and point the fingers at each other.

PAS78 divides responsibility in all stakeholders in different degrees i.e. website commissioner, website developers and website users. Overall the responsibility to ensure web accessibility lies with the website commissioner.

Put yourself in the shoes of your website visitors

Think of relative or a friend or someone you know has a visual impairment and uses a screen reader to browse the web. You can think of your teenage son who mostly browses internet on the move on his mobile device.

Or think of yourself who would like to read an important article on your blackberry before that important meeting and you cannot because the website is not mobile friendly.

Can I make my website accessible?

There are different ways to achieve web accessibility on your website. You can achieve this by learning about web accessibility and deploying it on your website or can use our knowledge and expertise in this area.

We can look at your existing website and tell you how to make it accessible or help you to draw up a plan if you are thinking of designing or re-designing your website.
